Goodbye, Mr. Suzuki
April 1st turned out to be rather exciting here on The Bell Tree, but everyone's favorite crypto investor and budding forum owner appears to have gone silent overnight. Has he moved on to another investment project already? Did he grow tired of the relentless NFT thirst and multiple marriage proposals? In fact, I have recently learned that none of these possibilities are the case. Simply put, Mr. Suzuki is facing some very serious legal issues as he is now being sued for copyright infringement thanks to his aggressive acquisition and restructuring of this website.
In order to implement his NFT project, Mr. Suzuki partnered with Nook Inc. and StalkMarket Investment Group LLC. Together, these two companies worked tirelessly to develop the NFT system in accordance with Mr. Suzuki's plan. However, after the product was delivered, Mr. Suzuki insisted that their payment should be made in the form of cryptocurrency. The two companies refused to accept the payment due to their fears of the unstable market. The contract was ended, but Mr. Suzuki's spirit of enterprise could not be contained. Deciding to move forward with the acquisition, he released the product anyway, but under its acronym: N.F.T., originally named Nook's Fancy Turnip.
Due to this scandal, the BTC to Bells exchange rate has started to plummet, even before I finished writing this press release. Fortunately, TBT's contract with Mr. Suzuki had an exit clause, so we have regained ownership of the forum and are quickly rolling back his "modern era" features such as BTC, NFT, and Bell Tree Blockchain. Perhaps his vision of the modern era was a bit too aggressive and chaotic for our tastes anyway!
Over the last day, we have seen many users posting their favorite Nook's Fancy Turnips in threads and some people have even admitted to downloading them. This goes to show that Mr. Suzuki's NFTs have failed to protect the exclusive ownership of the N.F.T.s as promised. Out of sympathy for the botched acquisition, Nook Inc. has agreed to release the prototype N.F.T. on our behalf, which you can keep in your collectible inventories. As you may see, this version is slightly less of an abomination in comparison to the ones displayed in place of your avatars. Introducing, the original Nook's Fancy Turnip:
Hopefully this new collectible can make up for the removal of our short-lived NFT system and I hope you can also find solace in knowing that your favorite turnips are still living in peace on The Bell Tree's server. In other news, several users including @kikotoot, @xSuperMario64x, @Ananas Dragon, and @LambdaDelta have been arrested for attempting to extort and bribe Mr. Suzuki, but we have already requested full pardons for all of them.
Special Thanks
The staff members you can blame for this year's April Fool's prank/event are:
@Mistreil: Coming up with the idea.
@Mistreil: Writing the crypto/NFT/blockchain portion of the Bulletin Board thread.
@Jeremy: Writing the corporate jargon portions (with the assistance of AI in some cases).
@Jeremy: Magical avatar-changing system.
@Jeremy and @Oblivia: Golden turnip art creation with AI.
@Mistreil: Nook's Fancy Turnip collectible.
Easter 2023!
From one wild event to another in under a week, Easter is almost here! Our Easter egg hunt event is starting in the evening of this Friday, April 7th! If you're new to TBT, this event will give you clues that help you find hidden "eggs" around the forum. You will then be able to buy new Easter egg collectibles that are sold in the forum shop. For our more seasoned members, it will work like last year's event with different ways to use a clue and more relaxed rules. Last year's changes were well received by the community, so we're copying that format, but possibly making a few minor changes to it.
Backdrops for Sale
With Easter on the horizon, it's time to decorate the forum with some seasonal backdrops, including one brand-new one called Opalescent Oleander!
These backdrops are displayed behind your user information with every post. They are temporary and will be discarded on April 23rd (regardless of what the shop says when you purchase them). The first two were designed by @dizzy bone while the third was designed by @Mistreil.
For a very limited time, these backdrops will be sold for 1000 BTC. The currency has crashed, so consider this a special Easter surprise for those of you who worked hard earning the failed cryptocurrency. On Tuesday, they will no longer be sold for BTC and will instead cost 80 Bells each. You can find them in the Backdrop section of our shop here.
BTC Leaderboard
Just for fun, let's see who ended up with the most BTC. This list shows everyone with at least 500 BTC.
We'll see you all this Friday for the egg hunt!
